XFL commissioner Oliver Luck visited “The Dan Patrick Show”on Wednesday to talk about the new league.
During the conversation, Patrick couldn’t pass up the opportunity to discuss Oliver’s son, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
Patrick asked: Does Andrew needed a job now?
“No, thank you for asking. He’s Mr. Mom right now,” Oliver said. “He and his wife had their first child about three months ago. He’s doing a lot of babysitting.”
Patrick probed a little further noting how surprising it was that in this day and age, a former NFL quarterback could just disappear like Andrew did.
“He’s one of these millennials that isn’t involved with social media,” Oliver said. “I guess there’s still a handful of those guys out there. As a result, it was very easy for him to get out of the spotlight and live his own life.”
Oliver expressed his admiration for guys like Andrew and former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly who could walk away from the game and knew when to say when. “Guys like me were told when we were done,” Oliver Luck said. “I really admire that because that’s taking control. It’s also taking care of your post-career future, which is critical for a lot of guys.”

Patrick pointed out how the timing seemed a little off with the Colts finally putting together an offensive line.
Oliver expressed how much he valued the work of Colts general manager Chris Ballard.
“(Andrew) did sort of lament to me how the Colts had such a good offense as he was working through his own issues,” Oliver said. “Chris Ballard has done an excellent job. That is my GM of the year. It’s a small market. They ended up losing some gas toward the end of the season this year, but I think the world of Chris Ballard. He’s one of the best.”
